Rafet El Roman, or Rafet Yaşdut as he is known by his real name, quickly gained a huge following with his 1995 album ‘Gençliğin Gözyaşları‘ (meaning ‘The Tears of Youth’). In particular, the track “Seni Seviyorum” (meaning ‘I love you’) became one of the songs played non-stop in holiday resorts during the summer months.
At the age of seven, he left his village in Edirne to join his family, who were working as labourers in Germany. Despite his young age, he won awards in various music competitions in Germany.
Following the 1995 album mentioned above, he established himself as an artist whose albums achieved success both in Turkiye and across Europe. He also appeared in movies. He continues his musical career to this day.
