As I mentioned in my music blog at the start of the month, this April I’m sharing tracks by Ajda Pekkan, the “superstar” of Turkish music, with you.

In previous weeks, we’ve covered the period from the 1960s right up to the late 1980s. This week, I’ll be presenting some examples of Ajda’s most beloved tracks from the 1990s. Just like the previous weeks, she had so many hits that narrowing the selection down to just three is really difficult. So, just as I did in previous weeks, I’ll be choosing tracks that highlight slightly different sounds.

For now, I won’t be sharing Ajda Pekkan’s standout tracks from the 2000s; I’ll save those for a later date. Next week, we’ll continue exploring every era and style of Turkish music with another singer.
