Nicolas Andriomenos Photographe & Future Projects

In 2018, together with my father, we published a comprehensive book titled “Nicolas Andriomenos Photographe”. Our work explains the story of photography in the last days of Ottoman Empire and early years of Turkish Republic through the lens of Ottoman-Greek photographer Nicolas Andriomenos and his son, Athanasios Andriomenos.

Their photography studio, started in 1875, gradually became a very respected studio and served to all segments of society for 80 years without interruption.

Illustrated with hundreds of photographs, maps or close-up details, this book not only explains the studio and work of Nicolas Andriomenos and his son. In addition to that, this book also demonstrates how photography transformed from an exclusive luxury product to a public commodity.

Our book is 342 pages long and written in Turkish. It contains 10-page summaries in English and Greek.
