Majestic Dolmabahce Palace and the Best of Besiktas District

Although not widely known among visitors, the Besiktas district of Istanbul contains some of the city’s most interesting sights.

For instance, Dolmabahçe Palace can easily rival Versailles in terms of its majestic display of grandeur. The lively market area of Beşiktaş offers a wide range of restaurants, cafés and dessert shops, providing visitors with delicious food and drink options. Art lovers will be delighted by the quality of the National Palaces Painting Collection. One of my personal favourites is the Naval Museum, which contains the world’s only surviving original galley, as well as a unique collection of imperial rowboats. The Tomb of Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha, the greatest admiral in Ottoman history, is a key monument in Istanbul’s maritime heritage. Finally, you can experience the chaotic beauty of daily life in Istanbul in Beşiktaş’s public square, located right next to the Bosphorus.

Give Besiktas a chance during your visit to Istanbul and you will be sure to leave with a memorable impression.
