Discovering Ottomans: Beyazit, Suleymaniye, Fatih Districts

The Ottoman Empire was a leading global superpower from the 15th to the 18th century. Starting as a small Turkish nomadic tribe in 1299, it gradually transformed into a complex, multicultural entity that lasted until 1922. Istanbul, the third and final capital of the Ottoman Empire, is home to some of the finest examples of Ottoman art and architecture.

On this route, we will explore many of the fundamental characteristics of the Ottoman Empire, as well as some lesser-known aspects. We will examine these while visiting some of the greatest monuments commissioned by the sultans. We will take a deep dive into the unparalleled architectural achievement of Suleymaniye Mosque, the crown of Istanbul. We will also visit the Fatih Mosque and Tomb, the resting place of the Conqueror of Constantinople. We will also discover the lesser-known Bayezid Mosque. Topics we will explore together include architecture, arts, culinary culture, the structure of the state and the cosmopolitan nature of society. As with our other routes, we will enjoy delicious food on our way to our destinations.

Prepare to expand your knowledge of the Ottomans and their civilisation, which continues to exert its influence to this day.
