Culture and Culinary Experience in Multicultural Beyoglu and Galata

This is one of the most diverse and comprehensive routes in Istanbul. Join me as we explore the city’s modern heart, embracing its contemporary contradictions, cosmopolitan heritage and thriving food and entertainment scene. Galata, Pera, Beyoğlu and Taksim… These areas have much more to offer than meets the eye.
From a cultural perspective, we will visit a number of historical churches in Istanbul belonging to various Christian communities. We will also visit some of the city’s best contemporary cultural centres. Among these is a world-class painting museum, where you will be introduced to an impressive collection of Turkish art. Beyoğlu is also home to many art galleries, and we may be able to visit one of the temporary exhibitions. We will also explore the lesser-known streets of Galata, which are growing in popularity every year.
From a culinary perspective, this route offers plenty of rewards. Some of the finest examples of Turkish cuisine can be found in these areas. There are delicious meat and aubergine dishes, the best Turkish coffee in the city and sweet pastries, to name just a few of the endless options. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even try lamb brain salad, a dish that I really enjoy.
Let’s discover the most-visited but least-understood part of the city together.
