Culture and Culinary Experience in Istanbul’s Asian Side: Kadıkoy & Uskudar

The Kadikoy and Uskudar districts of Istanbul are among the city’s most important historical areas on the Asian side. These districts were not previously considered by tourists, but in recent years, more and more visitors have begun to appreciate their true value.

Both of these districts reflect the traditional character of Istanbul neighbourhoods more authentically than other parts of the city. However, they diverge significantly in terms of their cultural character and lifestyles. While Üsküdar is home to more modest yet elegant examples of Ottoman architecture, Kadıköy is a vibrant, lively and liberal town with countless cafés, Turkish-style taverns and popular spots for young people.

On this route, we will discover the true character of Istanbul by exploring some of its best-known and lesser-known sections. We will see some of the finest examples of Ottoman Baroque architecture. We will also sample delicious food and sweets. And, as we do all these things, we will discover beautiful spots from which to enjoy the panorama of Istanbul.
