Amazing Topkapi Palace and Basics of Ottoman Civilization
Because Topkapi Palace is the most expensive museum in Istanbul (around 50 USD per person), don’t you want to understand its history, architecture, and amazing collections in a more conscious manner? Why did the Ottoman Empire, a leading global superpower in the 16th and 17th centuries, rule a vast geography within a small domed room? Why does the most ceremonial section of the palace look quite humble? What is the story behind Holy Relics, such as the arm of St. John the Baptist, and how did they end up in the Topkapi’s treasury?
In this route, we will take a closer look at Topkapi Palace’s jewellery box-like rooms and gardens that resemble paradise. Along the way, we will explore some of the fundamental characteristics of Ottoman civilisation, as well as some lesser-known aspects. We will discover famous treasures such as the “Spoonmaker’s Diamond” and the “Topkapi Dagger”.
At the end of this route, led by a professional, licensed tourist guide, if you have any additional free time, you can continue exploring the Ottoman civilisation in the Sultanahmet or Sirkeci areas, depending on your preference.
