On YouTube: A Quick Look – Museum of Troy – The Polyxena Sarcophagus

The second episode of “A Quick Look” series in my YouTube channel focuses on “The Polyxena Sarcophagus”. It is a major highlight of the Museum of Troy, located in Canakkale, Turkiye.

This beautiful ancient sarcophagus, dated back to 6th century BC, depicts a wedding preparation scene on one side and the “sacrifice” of Polyxena on the other side. Let’s examine this elegant sarcophagus, by clicking the YouTube video below.

If you are interested in the ancient city of Troy, Trojan War, ancient Greek mythology and ancient art, then the Museum of Troy should be on your travel list. The Polyxena Sarcophagus is also a must-see.

Most of the travellers allocate a limited time to visit the ruins of Troy and don’t enter into the award-winning Museum of Troy. However, these two sites are located just next to each other. Moreover, a visit to the museum will give you better insight and this will help you to understand ruined city better. Without such insights, or without a guided visit, ruins of Troy may not be easy to appreciate.

To sum up, I highly recommend you to visit both of the ruins and the museum together during your trip to Troy.
