The great treachery of electricity is neither power outage, nor lightning strike. When we are experiencing comforts that our electrical devices provide, we are missing something amazing that our ancestors admired every night. We are missing the beauty of watching stars and complicated feelings they create on us. I wonder what could have been a source of inspiration to poets, singers or believers, if there wouldn’t be stars shining on dark skies.
Now, I want to share with you a very interesting infographic that I saw in the BBC website. It illustrates how vast the space actually is. Let’s scroll down and realise how far distances between stars are. But don’t be sad or disappointed. Just escape from cities’ artificial lights for a weekend. Go out at night, take a look at dark sky and give your eyes some time to adapt. Soon you will see hundreds, if not thousands of stars, then you will realise, reaching stars is not as difficult as you might think.
